RACE WIN & GP PODIUM FOR LIVIA LANCELOT

RACE WIN & GP PODIUM FOR LIVIA LANCELOT

  • Colby Young

ODI Athlete Livia Lancelot raced to her first moto win this season in Arco di Trento (Italy), as she won the second heat of the GP to claim her first GP podium this season. The Monster Energy Team 114 Kawasaki rider is now third in the series, before the next round scheduled in Ernée (France) end of May.

The defending world champion never felt comfortable on Saturday and was content to simply consolidate her early season scoring in the first moto when she finished fifth in slight drizzle after a moderate start. But the French lady turned up the volume in the second race of the weekend on Sunday morning to snatch the lead two laps from the end to race to an unchallenged victory. Holding down fourth place after the initial sort-out she was content at first to keep a watching brief as the leaders battled ferociously in a manner which was to eventually prove to be their downfall on a treacherous track where overnight rain saw deep ruts develop quickly. With the sun shining Livia moved to third place on lap three and she took over second place three laps later, finally moving ahead two laps from the end of the 25-minute race. The victory earnt her third place over the weekend and she is now also third in the series, just sixteen shy of the points leader with two-thirds of the series still to run.
