Lopes wins California State Cyclocross Championships for the 2nd consecutive year!

While some of us in the U.S. were still coming out of our Turkey coma from Thanksgiving, this past Sunday the four time World Champion Gravity racer Brian Lopes decided to try his luck on some skinny tires vs. his usual Kenda El Moco knobbies. He set up his IBIS Hakkalugi and headed to the SoCal State Cyclocross Championship, to compete in the Men's Elite class.

Lopes a surprising suspect for this type of mountain bike discipline, prides himself in conquering unlikely situations on two wheels. The race took place under blue skies at Verdugo Park in Glendale, California. The 2.7km course drew more than 500 participants, allowing the Elite men group to crank out 7:15 lap times.

Lopes confirmed that it was not an easy WIN as he had to put quite an effort to inch out Brent Prenzlow (Celo Pacific BRT). This is the second time that Brian has claimed the Cyclocross State Champion title, baring the bear icon of his home state.
